What is the origin story of your business? Tell us how and why you started — what inspired you?
We’re a husband-and-wife duo who started Homework Studio from our kitchen table. After years of freelancing in animation, we decided to join forces and build a studio that lets us work on fun, meaningful projects, especially in kids’ media and education. Our first big projects were for TED-Ed and Peacock, and since then we’ve kept growing, with a mix of commercial, educational, and original IP work. We’ve been growing ever since!
What does your business do, and who is your ideal client or customer?
Homework is a boutique animation studio that creates bold, playful content for education, entertainment, and advertising. We handle everything from design to final animation. Our ideal clients are people who care about smart storytelling and strong visuals, think educators, producers, brands, or agencies who want to make something fun and thoughtful.
What do you love most about running your business?
I love getting to make meaningful, creative work, especially alongside my husband. Running our own studio means we get to choose projects we care about and build a work-life balance that works for our family.
How can the community best support you?
We'd love any and all support! Anyone who is looking for animation services or knows someone who is, we'd love eyeballs on our website and socials! Looking for new clients in all areas of the digital world.
What is the biggest lesson you've learned on your entrepreneurial journey?
We went from freelancing to studio owners and have to wear a lot of hats. We had roles that we thought we'd take on individually and realized we have to share most responsibilities.
Has your Jewish identity, values, or community experience influenced your business in any way?
Yes. I have worked on a film funded by the Azrieli foundation about a Holocaust survivor and created my own animated short about my grandmothers' experience in the Holocaust. These led to bigger projects and also ultimately helped my husband and I find each other!
