Moroccan Jewry of the Greater Toronto Area: an Unconventional Case of Sephardic Communities - McMaster Religious Studies Masters candidate Chaim Grafstein will explore why and how the Moroccan Jewish community has taken shape in Toronto by engaging with specific features that distinguish them from broader Sephardic Jewry. Chaim will also discuss the history of the community, the ways in which it has developed and been impacted by being part of English speaking Canadian society as well as functioning as a minority within a larger Jewish community of predominantly European descent.
