Discovering My Balanced Family Tree – Researching Balanced, the Al Pearlstein Story
Presented by Mark Pearlstein
http://www.jgsh.org/Events.php?ITEM=10

When Mark Pearlstein decided to write a memoir recounting the life lessons he learned from his father Al, he discovered that there would be some considerable research required before he could begin.

A history buff since the age of seven, Mark wanted to cover the 25 years around the turn of the 20th century in order to describe what life was like in his grandfather's ancestral town of Vistytis, Lithuania.

An important part of telling the story would be a description of his grandfather Harry’s family, including his nine siblings. No one in the family even knew all of their names. A letter written in 1990 by a relative provided some clues, but much more sleuthing was involved, sending Mark on wonderful genealogical journey to find answers, uncovering some surprising information about his family's roots.

Please join us as Mark takes us from Hamburg to Newfoundland, Massachusetts, California, Montreal and finally to Indiana on his quest to complete his book.

Mark Pearlstein has a B. Comm. And an MBA in Finance and Marketing. He has been an accomplished Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor at RBC Dominion Securities for the past twenty-six years.
