This September will mark an important milestone in Jewish education in Hamilton as HHA High opens its doors to its first Grade 9 class.

The school’s educational vision combines academic excellence with meaningful Jewish learning, practical experience and leadership development within a close and supportive community. Its goal is not only to prepare students for academic success, but also to equip them with the knowledge, confidence and strong sense of identity they will carry throughout their lives. Students will be encouraged to think critically, engage with their community and develop the leadership skills needed for an ever-changing world.

HHA High is opening at a time when Jewish students are entering an increasingly complex world. They are likely to face questions about their identity, Israel and the place of the Jewish people in the broader community. HHA High has been designed to prepare students for those realities with knowledge, resilience and confidence.

Students will explore Jewish identity, history, resilience, Israel, antisemitism, advocacy and civic engagement while examining the experiences that have shaped the Jewish people and continue to influence Jewish life today. The program equips students with a strong foundation in Jewish history, Judaism and Israel while developing the confidence and skills to communicate thoughtfully, respectfully and persuasively in classrooms, on university campuses and within the broader community.

HHA High is also launching PATHWAYS, an after-school Ontario credit program open to Jewish students from across the Hamilton community, including those attending other secondary schools. The program combines hands-on learning with mentorship from local professionals and community leaders. Students will develop practical life skills, explore Jewish traditions and culture, and create business or community ventures that culminate in presentations to the community. 

The opening of HHA High represents more than the launch of a new school —it marks the beginning of a new chapter in Jewish education in Hamilton.
